At this support site there will be 2 paddocks involved in the trial in collaboration with the Murray CMA’s Meeting in the Middle Project.
Site 1. This site is an area of Grassy Box Woodland that has had stock excluded it will be actively managed using crash grazing at suitable times (every 60 or greater days) to benefit desirable native perennial species.
Site 2. This site is an area of native pasture which will have a light amount (125kg/ha) of superphosphate spread and then active management applied. i.e. in early spring when native species are actively growing crash grazing will be employed combined with a responsive rather than timed management. Grasses at this site will be managed to ensure a stock exclusion period when grasses are <4cm in height.
Base pasture:
Both sites are native dominated, one in a pasture situation (Site 2) and one in a remnant situation (Site 1). Common species occurring at the sites includes Austrodathonia sp. and Austrostipa sp. Introduced annuals are also present at both sites however are more prevalent at Site 2 due to different historic management.
