Production and Environmental Challenges

The aim at this site is to increase the water use efficiency, ground cover and pasture production by increasing the perennial content of the pastures and changing the current stock grazing practices.

Innovation being tested:

The value of a winter active Tall fescue pasture to provide additional herbage and increase ground cover compared to annual pastures common in the region.

Base pasture:

The base pasture is annual grass (ryegrass, barley grass) with minimal phalaris (perennial).
The improved paddock has been renovated and sown to winter active fescue

Animal systems:

Prime lamb production
